Title | Boundary Scattering and Non-invertible Symmetries in 1+1 Dimensions |
Abstract | We discuss an application of non-invertible symmetries to scattering theory. Non-invertible symmetries are a class of generalized symmetries that have been actively investigated in recent years. Recent studies by Copetti, Córdova, and Komatsu (CCK) have revealed that, when non-invertible symmetries are spontaneously broken, the conventional crossing relation of the S-matrix for kink-soliton scattering is modified by the nontrivial topological field theory associated with the non-invertible symmetry. In this talk, I will explain the modified crossing relation from the viewpoint of the Lehmann–Symanzik–Zimmermann (LSZ) reduction formula. I will then discuss the analogous problem of scattering of a kink soliton and a boundary and derive the corresponding modified crossing relation for the boundary S-matrix. This talk is based on joint work with S. Shimamori [arXiv:2504.08375]. |
